Dragonfly Sympathy Card by Crystal Cleveland
Sympathy cards is something that I really don't like making and when I have a need for one, I have a major brain freeze. I had several friends whose father's where in hospice care, so I decided to make a card-in fact I decided to make 6 so I could have a few extras just to be prepared.
I'm not really a purple person at least not since high school, but this color combination I think went perfectly together.
For this project you will need the following materials:
- Very Vanilla card stock 3-3/4" by 5" You will need one for the front and one for the inside.
- Perfect Plumb card stock 4" by 5-1/2"
- Mint Macaron card stock 4-1/4" by 11" scored at 5-1/2"( The mats and the card bases can be switched up I did when I was making them just to make them interesting.
- Wisteria Wonder ink
- Perfect Plum ink
- Mint Macaron ink- one of my favorite inks
- art glitter glue
- foam squares
- rhinestones
- gel pen - to draw antennae on dragonfly
Maymay May It Stamp Sets:
- Wings - dragon fly
- Relic- dots
- Lion and the Lamb - Inside Verse
- Sorry - outside verse
Stampin Up
This card was actually pretty fun stamping! I did alot of stamping off where you ink up your stamp then stamp on a scrap piece of paper and then stamp on the card stock for a softer image. This is also the card I was making when I tried to ink up my stamp on my cell phone!! Which by the way it doesn't work too well.
Using a flourish stamp ink up using the mint macaron ink and stamp off and then on the very vanilla card stock. Repeat these steps on 3 sides of the card.
Using the dots from the Relic stamp set and Wisteria Wonder stamp over the flourishes stamping off and on the card stock for depth.
I stamped 2 cards at a time!
Using the fern stamp and Perfect Plum ink and stamp straight on the card and then stamp to side of where you just stamped, but DO NOT REINK then stamp to the other side forming a fern bush. Stamping off the card stock. Using Perfect Plum ink stamp Sorry For Your Loss from the Sorry Stamp Set. Stamp it full strength.
Stamp the dragonfly stamp on a piece of very vanilla card stock using Wisteria Wonder ink.
Stamp over the dragonfly with the stitched dragonfly using Perfect Plum. Fussy cut out the dragonfly ( I didn't worry about the antennae I drew them on the card stock later see pic) Attach the dragonfly with foam squares to the front of card drawing antennae on with a gel pen. Add rhinestones to the wings of the dragonfly.
Glue card front to Perfect Plum then pop up on the card base with foam squares.
On the inside piece of Very Vanilla stamp the flourish, dots and ferns on the inside left corner using the technique used on the front of the card. Add the sentiment from Lion and Lamb using Perfect Plum ink.
Glue to the inside of the card
Also don't forget to stamp your envelope as well
Some of my cards I used Wisteria Wonder as a mat and Perfect Plum as a card base and then I stamped the dragonfly background in Mint Macaron and the stitches in Perfect Plum. it'e your card change it up as you like.
Happy Crafting!!

I am not very good at making cards either. I can never get anything straight and lined up. I have wasted more paper trying to get it right but can’t seem to get the hang of it
