Blog DT Color Throwdown Challenge August Flowers For Fall Card

Hey everyone! This is Sarmin from FUNtastic Crafts. Today’s blog will be the first of the Maymay Made It challenge for  the month of August. For this challenge we can only use the colors brown, orange and pink. I had such a fun time creating this watercolored card. Not only did I use watercolors, I also stamped images. Those are my two favorite ways to create cards!

SUPPLIES USED TO CREATE THIS CARD

To begin, I used the Sunflower Wishes stamp set by Maymay Made It. I stamped the flowers onto Tim Holtz watercolor paper using Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide Ink. When using water color paper remember that there are two sides. One is a smooth side and the other is much more textured. I prefer to stamp and color on the smoother side.

Once I completed the stamping, I then began coloring my flowers using water color pencils and a water brush. While this took a while, I loved every minute of it!

Once I was done with the coloring, all I did was take some of this walnut stain Distress Oxide Ink which is a very brown color and I just splattered some of that ink onto my floral background.

I also took a brown gel pen and put some marks on the middle part of my sunflowers just to make it look a bit more like a sunflower. I also used the same stamp set to stamp my sentiment “just a note” and backed that sentiment strip with a brown cardstock. I glued my panel onto a brown cardstock base and that completes my card! Thanks so much for reading my blog and if you would like to see a more detailed instruction, make sure to watch my YouTube tutorial on this card!
