IG DT "May Flowers" Challenge Created by Candace Gillespie

May Flower Challenge

I LOVED creating this card! I don’t live by Dogwoods so it gave me a challenge that I gladly took on! I am in love with Dogwood trees and blooms now by the way 😍😍😍

Supplies used:

-MMI stamp set “Dogwoods in Bloom”

-Darice Embossing Folder “Leafing Tree”

-Versafine Black Onyx Ink

-Versamark Ink

-Clear and White Embossing Powder

-Distress Oxides in: Tattered Rose,

                                 Picked Raspberry,

                                  Forest Moss,

                                  Walnut Stain,

                                  Bundled Sage,

                                  Lucky Clover,

                                  Fossilized Amber.

-Acetate Window Sheets
-Oval Framelits
-Nuvo Crystal Drops
-Water Brush Paint Brush
-Foam Tape
-Pink, Transparent and Translucent Sequins from my stash
-Clear Seabeads from my stash
-Translucent Chunky Glitter from my stash

Process:
For this 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 inch card,
I started by stamping tons of the flowers in “Tattered Rose” Distress Oxide Ink on plain white Cardstock (I used scraps 😉). Using my water brush I spread the ink from the middle of the flower out. Then I smooshed some “Picked Raspberry” Distress Oxide Ink onto an acrylic block and picked some up with my brush and painted the outside edges spreading inward “till the color ran thin. For the leaves I stamped them in three different greens: Forest Moss, Bundled Sage and Lucky Clover Distress Oxides and painted them in using feathered strokes using random combinations of the same three green inks. For the centers of the blossoms I stamped them in Forest Moss and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxides. Next I fussy cut them all out and put them aside.
For the shaker inside panel used the “Leafing Tree” embossing Folder from MMI’s shop. For the top I centered a large oval framelit on a panel and die cut it out. I then glued some acetate to the back side of the oval cut panel and layered up two layers of foam tape around the oval opening. I filled it until my heart was happy with a mix of sequins and sea beads and I centered it on top of the embossed background panel. I glued that onto a black card base. Next I layered on the flowers and leaves gluing some straight down and some popped up with foam tape. I stamped out my sentiment with Versafine Black Onyx Ink and sprinkled it with clear embossing powder and melted it down with my heat gun. Then “praise” was stamped with Versamark and white embossing powder and melted down the usual way. I fussy cut these out and arranged them onto my card front. Then used some Nuvo Crystal Drops to add dew drops here and there. For the inside I stamped a Dogwood branch in Walnut Stain Distress Oxide along the bottom and added the same flowers and leaves from the front. Then the sentiment was stamped in Versafine Black Onyx Ink. There you have it! Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!!

Hugs!
