Pumpkin patches, homecomings, fall festivals, and thanksgiving....We all need albums for those fall memories. Join us for this fun fall envelope mini album series! Come see how Maymay takes ordinary 5x7 envelopes and creates a beautiful mini album. So gather up those supplies, grab a cuppa cuppa and let's create!
Part One Measurments~
Binding:
1 piece of patterned paper cut to 7 1/4 x 11 1/2" You will score on the 11 1/2 inch side at the following:
1, 1 1/2, 2, 2 3/8, 2 7/8, 3 3/8, 3 7/8, 4 3/8, 4 3/4, 5 1/4, 5 3/4, 6 1/4, 6 3/4, 7 1/8, 7 5/8, 8 1/8, 8 5/8, 9 1/8, 9 1/2, 10, and 10 1/2
See video for folding instructions. This technique is not just a regular accordion pleat.
*After you have the binding piece pleated you will add the sticky tape to the front side binding, do not add the sticky tape to the flat 3/8" sections on this side.
*Once you have the adhesive on that front side turn it over and now apply the sticky tape to the 3/8" flat sections.
*Now you are going to add a strip of tape to the valley sections of the back side of the binding. Place tape on both sides of the valley sections ( see the video).
*Now we are going to add the envelopes! ... add the envelopes to the valley sections across the front side of the binding ( see video).
*Next turn the binding over to seal the valley sections.
Look at that you now have your book!
Time to add the chipboard! You only want the chipboard to cover the spine area.
*Cut chipboard to 1 3/4 x 7 1/4 inches and cut 1 piece of the same pattern paper for the spine at 3 1/4 x 8 3/4 inches...
*Add sticky tape to the chipboard on both sides....
*Next then you will wrap it with the spine pattern paper. Make sure to miter the corners to get rid of the bulk. (see video)
*Next, we are adding the spine to the bookbinding. Make sure to open the pages and press the spine to get a good adhesion.
Time to add some flap pages!
*On the envelope tabs attach a piece of cardstock cut to 5 1/4 x 7 1/4 ( you will need 5) inches using sticky tape. You will do this for each of the envelope flaps. See the video.
This is the end of part 1....
PART 2
Hey guys! Who is loving this fun envelope mini album??? Today we are working on the cover( the most important part and the hardest one to decide on the elements) and the flap pages. The measurements are for the envelopes that we carry in the store, if you are using different ones the measurements will vary.
** We will be going over the pockets and other pages ( non-flap) in the next installment. So stay tuned for that episode.
Measurements:
***Our flap pages measure 5 x 7. We cut 5 pieces of Machiatto cardstock to 5 x 7 and we rounded the corners on one side ( the opening side) *** We also use the 1/4 inch corner rounder to ease the bulk a bit on the flaps.
Cover: We do not have specific measurements for this, this will depend on how you want to decorate.
Pages are listed as Maymay created them, not in order of appearance in the album.
Middle Facing Each Other Flap Pages:
~ 2 of the 5 x 7 pages
~ 2 pieces of orange cardstock cut to 4 x4 inches
~ 2 pieces of pattern paper cut to 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches
These will photo mats will hold 3" to 3 1/4 inches in size. We will show later in the series how to print those photos.
Last Page:
The strips are approx. 1~ pice of pattern paper cut to 2 1/4 x 7inches and 1~ piece of orange cardstock cut to 2 x 7 inches.
3 ~pieces of oranger cardstock cut to 2 x 2 inches.
1st Page:
1~ of the 5 x7 pages
1~ of the cut apart strips cut to 2 3/8 x 5 inched and 1~ piece of orange cardstock cut to 2 5/8 x inches
1~ piece of orange cardstock cut to 4 1/2 x 4 inches for the large mat
2nd Page: Door
1~ of the 5 x7 pages
Top Panels:
3 ~pieces of cardstock cut to 1.5 x 4 inches
3 ~pieces if cardstock cut to 3 3/4 x 1 7/8
Bottom panel"
1 ~piece of cardstock cut to 4 1/2x 2 1/4 inches
1 ~piece of cardstock cut to 1 3/4x 4 inches
1 ~piece of cardstock cut to 3 3/4 x 7/8 inches
Part 3
Pockets:
You will need to cut 5 pieces of pattern paper to 3 1/2 x 7 1/4 inches. These will go on the envelope flap section, then we used a 1-inch circle punch to add a thumb hole to all 5 pockets.
Inside Flap Pages:
You will need 5 pieces of pattern paper cut to 5 x 7 inches. This will hide the envelope gluing section, no one will even know it's an envelope! Make sure to round the corners if needed to match the flap page.
Now we are taking the cut aparts and adding them to the flaps to make another flap....these measure 4 x 6 inches, you will need 5 of these cut aparts.
*Next we are cutting 5 pieces of cardstock to measure 4x 61/2 inches , now score these at 1/2 inch to create the "bend" of the flap.
*Next you will attach the cut apart piece to the score fold section to create the flap. then glue to the page in album. We rounded all 4 corners to make it prettier. ( see the video)
The Last 3 Pages:
3 ~pieces of pattern paper cut to 401/2 x 6 3/4 inches
* Now we are creating angle pockets for all 3 pages....to begin cut 3 pieces of cardstock to 3 1/4 x 4 1/2.
*Now you will make 1 inch down from the top and make a pencil mark ( see video) Next you will cut at angle from the bottom corner to the 1 inch pencil mark (SEE VIDEO) Then we used a punch to create a pretty border to the angle part of the pocket. Now add to the album by gluing on 2 sides, you made the angle pocket! Now time to decorate the pockets.
Back Cover:
We glued a pretty section of pattern paper cut to 5 x 7 inches
Now its time to print your photos and continue to decorate!!!!
See the video on how we printed the photos for this album.
