Red, White and Blue!

Next Monday the USA will celebrate our day of Independence. I thought I would post my blog card a little early as it's a Red, White and Blue card. I used Maymay's “Beacon” stamp set. I started with a white card base ( 4 ¼ X 5 ½ ). I glued a dark blue banner ( 2 ¾ X 4 ¾ ) onto a piece of white cardstock ( 4 X 5 ¼ ). I then mounted this on a dark blue mat. (4 - 1/8 X 5- 3/8). I stamped the Sailboat image from the Beacon stamp set and cut it out with a 2 ½ inch circle die. While the image was still in the die, I used a red pen to make stitched marks using the die edge for a guide. I used the same red pen to color the sail on the Sailboat.  I stamped a single Seagull onto the circle with the sailboat.  I then used a piece of white cardstock cut at 1 ¼ X 4, onto which I stamped my sentiment “ Friend.” I used a piercing tool and my Tim Holtz ruler and pierced some holes on the top and bottom of this piece. Using a Red Distress Marker I colored the top and bottom edges of the piece to look like a faux mat. Using some red bakers twine I wrapped the piece and tied a bow. I stamped the round life raft from the Beacon set onto some scrap card stock and fussy cut it out and glued it to the middle of the bow. I placed this across the piece of 4 X 5 ¼ and adhered it down with  Art Glitter glue. Taking my circle with the Sailboat image I placed some dimensional tape on the top and glue on the bottom and centered it over my banner piece overlapping the piece that contained the sentiment. For the inside of the card I stamped the image of the Sailboat into the lower right hand corner of the card.

Thanks!!!!
